Fat Boy’s @ Publika Dutamas

IMG_4148

KL may be famous for Fei Lou Lok Lok, Perak may be renowned for its Fei Lou Chicken Rice but Publika Dutamas offers us with its special Fat Boy’s ‘customised’ burgers. When I say customised, I meant you may select the types of bread you prefer, amount of patties and the vegetables of course! Each of these comes with a price. Here are the selections for you to choose from.

Now the good thing about this restaurant is they serve you with HEINZ sauce.

Instead of customising my burger, I decided to order whatever that is ready on the menu.

Jamaican Me Hungry RM19++

Mahalo RM18.50++

Fish N Chips RM 19++

All in all, the food isn’t as fantastic as The Daily Grind @ Bangsar Village. Most of the patties are burnt a bit and not as juicy. Nevertheless it is still edible.

Dennis        : Where else except buffet lunch @ Chatz Brasserie, Park Royal Hotel KL! Feast your eyes with chefs at work at the open kitchen. Not only that, the light tubes and ceiling light boxes with Japanese touch made the ambience nice for you to enjoy your buffet too!

Restoran Yut Kee @ Dang Wangi

You might not even take a glimpse at this restaurant but established since 1928, this sixty-year old coffee shop may be one of the oldest operating shops in Kuala Lumpur. Operated for three generations (your father’s father), this shop maintains its old time Hainan kopitiam interior design that is worthwhile going. I remember I used to go to one of these coffee shops with grandma. She used to put seared coffee onto the saucer and slowly moved her hands in a circular motion while holding on the saucer (sorry don’t now what’s the appropriate verb to use Smile with tongue out) to cool off the heat before drinking it.

Anyway, I found this place by chance. Was driving round town with the girl I know and I am like F*** YOU looking for breakfast. Then, I saw many people queuing up in the hot sun. I thought some celebrity was doing some shoot there so I decided to park my car and kaypoh. (You know this is also the typical Malaysian behaviour when an accident occurs.)  Apparently the locals claimed they served one of the best Hainanese Chicken Chop in KL. Then I heard the ‘receptionist’ calling names and the eager customers rushed in as though there are in a warehouse sale . “Ohh so that’s how you wait for your turn",” I thought. “DENNIS!” he called again. “YES,HERE!” while I waved to the man like a mad person.

I dashed in and immediately seat myself. Boy I was sweating like a dog! Packed with so many barbarians who seemed to be regular patrons. After placing my orders, I was jealous to see plates after plates were churned out to hungry monsters customers.  Here are some of their famous dishes in Yut Kee.

P1150755

Pork Buns is so so. Not as delicious as the good old times according to the regulars. Bun is really oily. I would not really suggest you to try this.

P1150750

Deep Fried Chicken/Pork Chop smothered in potato and onion gravy that will send your saliva dripping like a dog who found food! This is good to go! I couldn’t help myself by ordering another serving to cure my hungry stomach.

P1150756P1150753

These noodles may not be one of the best in town but no other the worst too. You may order this if you are noodles lovers.

P1150748

But of course, how could we miss the iced coffee in a local kopitiam. I would personally prefer if they could use the Hainan style coffee cup. Nevertheless this is still a place you can visit.

The Daily Grind @ Bangsar Village 1

P1150647

If you are looking for a place that offers sumptuous meal with a reasonable price complemented by a distinct ambience and walking out from the restaurant feeling satisfied, this place comes with a package that YOU have been looking for!

Unlike any other contemporary restaurants you may find in the states of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, The Daily Grind brings you back to the 60’s milk bar settings. Filled with red gears and long pipelines in the restaurant, I felt that I am in a high class underground sewer. Nevertheless do not judge a book by its cover.

I would suggest to order only a main course for yourself. Trust me, you only need that even if you are a big eater! It is also advisable to order different main courses so you could share among yourselves.

Without further ado, let’s give a round of applause to the starter, main courses and dessert  that I ordered for the day. *clap*

Nachos with Cheese & Chicken – RM18++

IMG_4023

This oven baked nachos with melted cheese is good. The crispy nachos with chicken slice definitely goes well with the guacamole ,salsa and sour cream. Sauces are quite spicy and sour at the same time. A starter that will make you keep craving for more!

Tarragon Mushroom Chicken Burger – RM28++

IMG_4028

For first timers and non adventurous burger eaters, this burger will trigger your taste buds with its juicy and moist chicken patty. To add on, the burger is garnished with tasty mushroom sauce.

Jai Ho Burger - RM28

P1150670

Smothered with spicy satay sauce, its patty gives an Indian Tandoori taste, just like having a burger in an Indian restaurant (So high class). You may find the juice from the patty trickling down to your fingers when grabbing a bite ! NYAM NYAM!

Chicken Chemoula Avocado Madness - RM29++

P1150674

Frankly I wouldn’t know how to explain this is because I am not a big fan of avocado. Although the patty taste real good, on the other hand I don’t find anything special about it.

Lamburgerni – RM28++

P1150673

Patty is medium well. Cannot tahan the smell of lamb though. So soli lar. I don’t know how to comment this dish also. If say nice, it is like I am lying, If I say not nice, I feel no good because it is like I backstab people.. So you decide.

Double Chocolate Mousse RM12++

IMG_3944

Dessert is too sweet to my liking. I was guessing what was the content on top of the dark chocolate. With the million dollar question in my mind, the first wild guess was condensed milk. After squeezing my brain juice out, somebody shouted ‘ IT’S WHITE CHOCOLATE YOU DIMWIT!” Haha there it goes! Anyway having a meal over here is quite pleasant. Check it out sometime Smile

Till I write again. *BUUUUUURRRRRRRRP* Apologies, ate too full. Kekekeke Smile with tongue out
